County court schedules list $4,000 to $20,000, and they're the starting point for learning how much is bail for a warrant. A court list of preset bail prices is called a bond schedule. Your county and the charge level decide the price.

The court accepts the full amount from you directly. A bail agent charges a smaller fee when you can't cover the whole sum. Before you decide, read about the way bail works.

Warrant amounts on county bond schedules

A preset bail amount for warrant charges sits between $4,000 at the low end and $20,000 at the high end. Every county court creates its own list. Many warrants come after an own recognizance release. Own recognizance means you signed an agreement to come back to court with no money paid.

A misdemeanor failure to appear costs $5,000 on the Riverside Superior Court bail schedule. For a felony, the amount at the Riverside County jail climbs to $20,000. Missing court after release is set at $10,000 on the Santa Clara Superior Court bail schedule.

In Oklahoma, the Tulsa County District Court sets felony bail jumping at $4,000 in its county bond list. Breaking a promise to appear is set at $5,000 under the San Francisco Superior Court bail schedule.

Bail agent fees for warrant bonds

The full bail amount is covered by a bond, a bail agent's written guarantee. For that guarantee, you pay the agent a premium, a fee that's nonrefundable. Most commonly, this fee is 10% plus actual, necessary, and reasonable expenses under California Bail Bonds rules.

A 10% fee on a $5,000 California warrant means $500 out of pocket. A bail bond cost tool can show your cost. Because of Oklahoma bail rules, agents must put their premium charge and the initial filing fee on the receipt you get.

Paid bail agents aren't allowed in some states. Under 725 ILCS 5/110-1.5, Illinois no longer uses money bail. Pretrial Services, Kentucky Court of Justice notes that Kentucky bans commercial bail. Cash or property is what you post with the court there. Wisconsin outlaws paid sureties and collects a 10% cash deposit through the court under Wisconsin Legislature: 969.12.

When a judge chooses a different amount

For the bail amount for bench warrant arrests, the schedule serves only as a starting point. That figure won't always be the final price. Judges can set a different amount in every case under the Santa Clara County Superior Court: Criminal Bail Schedule. A judge may set bail, grant own recognizance release, order detention, or add conditions.

At your hearing, the judge looks at the specific details. Public protection and offense seriousness are on the list in the Imperial County Superior Court: Request for increased bail procedure. Also, the judge looks at your past criminal record and if you'll come back to court.

Ohio Revised Code 2937.011 relies on those same 4 factors, the risk of nonappearance among them. Arrested people in Kentucky get interviewed and assessed by staff in 24 hours or less. See bail laws by state to review the rules where your case is heard.
